Soon to be a movie?
Dino and Martha De Laurentiis are turning Frank Schatzing's best selling
novel into a film. The Swarm will be a big-budget ecological disaster
movie.
Ted Tally will write the script, which revolves around an alien presence that
exists quietly on the ocean floor. According to Variety, it is compelled
to destroy humanity after its eco-system is disrupted by pollution. Scientists
race to fight off an apocalypse.
The Swarm is one of many films currently in production that deal with
mankind's ecosystem being disturbed. M. Night Shyamalan is in pre-production on The
Happening, which revolves around greenhouse gases. And James Cameron's Avatar
has similar themes.
There is no word on when production will start.
